Wolters Kluwer Financial Services Launches Online HSA Enrollment and Management Solution
Partners with healthcare banking technology leader Canopy Financial to give financial institutions and customers fast, easy and compliant HSA administration

MINNEAPOLIS – Jan. 17, 2008 – Wolters Kluwer Financial Services announced today the launch of HSA Director™, the company’s online Health Savings Account (HSA) management solution that provides financial institutions and their commercial and retail clients with fast, easy and compliant HSA enrollment and management capabilities.

Wolters Kluwer Financial Services worked with Canopy Financial, the market-leading provider of healthcare banking technology to the financial services industry, to create the HSA Director solution by integrating Wolters Kluwer Financial Services’ industry-leading HSA compliance documents and content into Canopy’s HealthDirect HSA technology platform.

Using HSA Director, institutions can automate such HSA-related business processes as eligibility, enrollment, account management, claims submission, expense substantiation, receipt storage, reporting, analysis, customer service and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulatory form filing.

By executing these processes online, institutions can help employers and their employees as well as individual consumers open accounts more quickly and reduce the number of errors associated with manual enrollment. And through online account management, an institution’s customers can gain easy access to their funds, view all of their account activities and learn more about HSAs and the investment options available to them.

“Ease and speed of use are both important features to financial institutions looking for an HSA technology solution, but so is its ability to help them remain compliant with regulatory obligations,” said Dave Roy, general manager, Banking, Wolters Kluwer Financial Services. “By partnering with Canopy to offer them the HSA Director solution, we’re providing institutions the best of both worlds.

Roy added that Wolters Kluwer Financial Services is interested in helping financial institutions take advantage of the expected rapid growth in Consumer Directed Healthcare. He noted the HSA Director solution not only gives financial institutions an opportunity to more efficiently provide customers with portable Health Savings Accounts, but also allows financial institutions to offer their commercial clients a complete and comprehensive solution, which is critical when competing with healthcare-owned financial service providers.

“As the HSA market continues to accelerate nationally, financial institutions are increasingly offering these types of accounts to the employer and consumer clients they service,” said Luis Doffo, Senior Vice President, Canopy Financial. “Our partnership with Wolters Kluwer Financial Services is extremely important as it helps Canopy extend its market penetration particularly into the bank and credit union markets through HSA Director, a seamless, leading-edge healthcare banking product that helps financial institutions meet the HSA needs of their customers.”

Wolters Kluwer Financial Services offers financial institutions a comprehensive, compliance-based set of HSA solutions that in addition to the HSA Director solution, includes:

  • Training to help staff understand and implement an HSA program;
  • Documents required to complete HSA transactions; and
  • A marketing program designed to help promote HSAs and ensure the program’s success.
