Due to severe storms and flooding that struck parts of Michigan beginning on June 22, 2017, the President has declared parts of Michigan a federal disaster area. As a result, individuals that reside in or have a business located in any of the affected areas may qualify for tax relief.

The tax relief postpones until October 31, 2017 certain deadlines falling on or after June 22, 2017 and before October 31, 2017. Deadlines that apply to individual retirement accounts (IRAs), Health Saving Accounts (HSAs), and other tax advantaged accounts that fall within this time period are extended.

More detailed information about this disaster declaration and area affected can be viewed here.
