Due to the wildfires that took place in Tennessee beginning on November 28, 2016, the President has declared Sevier County in Tennessee a federal disaster area. As a result, individuals that reside in or have a business located in Sevier County may qualify for tax relief.
The tax relief postpones until March 31, 2017 certain deadlines falling on or after November 28, 2016 and on or before March 31, 2017. Deadlines that apply to individual retirement accounts (IRAs), Health Saving Accounts (HSAs), and other tax advantaged accounts that fall within this time period are extended.
