HMDA Essentials: Purpose and Reporting Requirements

The Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), enacted by Congress in 1975 and implemented by the Federal Reserve Board's Regulation C, requires lending institutions to report loan data. Everyone involved in any aspect of lending needs to understand the purpose of HMDA, the responsibilities for collecting data, the data requirements for submission, and the net result of the annual publication of HMDA data in terms of conducting a peer comparison.

During this 1 ½ hour session, we will provide a complete walk-through of current HMDA regulations, beginning with the history and purpose of the statute and other regulations that affect HMDA. We will describe the technical requirements, including data elements to collect and submit, and review the potential ramifications for failing to meet the submission requirements.

Highlights of this webcast include:

  • HMDA Overview
  • History and Purposes of HMDA
  • Reporting requirements
  • Completing the LAR
  • Submission file format and schedule
