New Model Privacy Language Update

On November 17, 2009, eight regulatory agencies jointly released a new model privacy form for compliance with the privacy requirements of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley and Fair Credit Reporting Acts.

Effective in late December 2009, this notice is in a chart format and looks more like the nutritional labels you see on food products, as opposed to the text-oriented brochures that are given out now.

The idea was to create a cleaner, simpler explanation for customers of how an institution handles its personal information and how consumers can exercise their rights to opt-out of sharing some of their information. It will also make it easier for consumers to compare the privacy policies of different institutions.
