New incentives for SBA lending

Download SBA White Paper

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act gives you new incentives to make more Small Business Administration (SBA) loans. You now have greater access to more funds and higher guarantees, reducing your risk and making it more profitable to lend to small businesses.

To restore your confidence and increase liquidity in the secondary market, the U.S. Department of the Treasury and SBA have committed to:

  • Purchase up to $15 billion in securities backed by SBA loans.

  • Raise guarantees up to 90 percent for each eligible loan. Lenders in the 7(a) program receive greater protection and more liquidity to keep lending.

  • Eliminate loan fees reduce the cost of capital. Borrower and lender fees for 504 loans and upfront fees for 7(a) loans are temporarily eliminated, and fees paid since February 17 will be refunded.
